rat beds, ladybeards and potatoes.

It's getting late and I really should go to bed. Looking after my parents puppy all day tomorrow as they are going out for a meal (which I wasn't invited to - merry xmas to me) in the evening, and doing the xmas pressie drop-off rounds in the day.
Yesterday was dad's birthday, and I made him a coffee cake with walnuts on top. It would have been a lovely visit to my parents house if nan hadn't been there. She is sharp as glass, and extremely rude. Me and mum had a playfight in the kitchen, and nan said 'oh, that's reminded me...' of children wearing sumo fat suits. Thanks nan. Want to go put yours on so I can knock you through the wall??
Aside from being rude to me, and turning my mum into a terrified overpolite mess, she has NO problem with belittling my dad. Fair enough, dad talks bollocks and gets grumpy easily. But if you are going to inist on staying at his house for nearly a bloody week, deal with it. SHE asked to spend xmas with them. If she's got such a problem with everything, she should GO HOME!
Christmas is going to be excruciating. My parents and my nan ended up having a shouty argument yesterday that resulted in me sticking my fingers in my ears for well over 5 minutes. I couldn't wait to go home.
Luckily today, being just me, my dog Scamp, and my rats all chillaxing together, has soothed me. I made the rats some little flannel pillows, and a new cardboard house to snuggle in. I finished off my nan's xmas present - a painting of a tree full of birds - aswell, but really resent having to give it to her after the amount of bad feeling she's stirred up.
Dinner was interesting... I had a lot of soft veg in the fridge drawer that needed using up, so I made a chunky sauce for some quorn pieces, added puree and honey and a few herbs, and boiled up some new potatoes... Most of which had started to grow. It was actually very tasty, despite being made out of wilted celery, milky onions and pockmarked peppers.
I seem to have lost my internet connection. The dongle has now decided there is 'no service', which is bizarre and frustrating. So here I am, updating this blog via phone.
I've got to go do the washing up now, deliver unto the rats their bedtime soymilk, then curl up in bed with Stephen Fry's latest.
Sadly my quilt won't fit into my duvet covers being a kingsize rather than double, so i've had to put my crappy low tog summer duvet on the bed. Scamp takes up most of it, so I get a cold arse sticking out of the bedcovers while he enjoys a comfortable night's snory fartathon. Joy.
I think i'll have a hot choccy before I do anything though; it's so cold tonight!
Gerwyn told me there is a cocoa shortage so hot choc prices are going to rise. Damn you Cadburys! Don't make me go back to Cuppa Soups!!!
