I had promised myself that I would not get any more rats after the heartache of having to put one down, and lose the other due to having no control over his wellbeing. I lost a cat to the same situation, and two suffocated animals is enough to turn anyone with a heart to the sauce.
But seeing my ratties growing up in fast forward via video clips has made me realise that if there was any reason to get better it is for their sake. If I could handle the grotesqueness of my fellow humans my poor friends wouldn't have to hang at the mercy of my dad and his odd priorities.
Buster, the only rat out of my current four to fall ill (touch a stiffy) was let down by veterinary failings. But I am determined to get better so I can argue with the vet next time, and not accept their stupid excuses.
People are, in general, selfishly motivated and quite prepared to ignore reason and logic in favour of a luxurious existence. Oh sure, I know a few who break that rule and i'm glad of it. I just wish they were the majority.
I'm waffling, I can feel it. My fingers walk, but the brain's at home darning socks.
Time for bed methinks.
